The rack-supported mezzanine concept can be integrated with a variety of other systems to increase the storage capacity within a facility. Rack-supported mezzanine floors are a very practical way to utilize the (often wasted) space above the rack. This form of the mezzanine is constructed with pallet racking materials and is usually the most cost-effective way to build a mezzanine.
Storage is obtained above the structure with an open deck, plus the support of the deck is available for pallets that can be left open or utilized as shelving. Rack support mezzanines utilize high shelf space for shelving storage without the need for a structural mezzanine system.
Heavy-duty shelving or shelving or cantilever shelving becomes the structural support for catwalk floor systems. This type of shelving storage is more economical than freestanding mezzanines, with box shelving units installed above and below the mezzanine floor, while also increasing storage capacity.

Upright frames, beams, wire decks, column guards, and other accessories are often seen as pallet rack components. The rack-supported mezzanine will also receive additional custom-made components, such as flooring decks, steps, railings, and certain safety features. Wooden decks, bar gratings, diamond plates, galvanized steel panels, wire meshing decks, and powder-coated solid steel panels can all be engineered for use as the second or third flooring decks.
