Types of Mezzanines
♦ Freestanding Mezzanine
Freestanding Mezzanine, also called structural mezzanine, is one of the most popular raised storage types. As the name suggested, this kind of mezzanine is independent without relying on the walls or some other permanent parts of the building. Supported by structural columns that are bolted to the floor, structural mezzanine storage systems allow for the movement of people and machinery underneath the platform.
The structure is manufactured from high-grade steel materials which can be selected according to the weight they will carry. This prefabricated steel structure can be dismantled or relocated easily to accommodate personal requirement.
The main components and accessories of freestanding mezzanine is illustrated in the picture below.
The free-standing mezzanine is easy to dismantle or relocate, and the under flooring space can be used flexibly. Mezzanine made with structural steels can be very sturdy and durable which can bear very heavy loads.
♦ Rack-supported Mezzanine
Pallet rack supported mezzanines are effective to create extra storage space by using pallet racking attached with additional work platforms where you can store products above and below.
Enhancing the vertical usability of existing areas, these mezzanines are supported by rack uprights instead of structural posts where footings are not necessary. Fitting the decking into the frame, the aisles are connected to the racks to form a whole high-density storage systems.
Racking structure can also allow you to support carton flow, cantilever shelving, pallet flow, conveyor, stairs and pallet gates which are efficient and convenient for warehouse owners to choose from.

♦ Shelving-supported Mezzanine
Like rack-supported mezzanine, shelving supported mezzanine uses shelves to support platforms also creating a high-density storage system.
For the rack and shelf supported mezzanines we mentioned above, they all create some useful walkways in the system where products can be achieved directly by people, even for very high racks and shelves. These walkways can also be used to connect adjacent mezzanines together in complex distribution centers or large storing and picking systems.
♦ Full Mat Mezzanine
In some situation, the mezzanine can combine supported rack or shelf system and a full flat platform together. The underground space is filled with racks and shelves while the upper level can be left open for storing bulky, extrusive or irregular shape items. What’s more, we can put our office up there on the floor to get a perfect combination of storage areas and working places.
