Cost-effective Accessories Widely Used in Pallet Racking Systems
For all kinds of pallet rack systems, the main parts are uprights and beams, which form the general frame of a pallet rack system. While for a stable and safe pallet rack system, there are a lot of accessories assembled for stability, safety, and efficiency.

Ironstone provides the following common accessories:
1) Upright Protector
Upright protector is placed in front of the upright column with bolts drilled through the ground and it is designed to protect uprights from being hit by forklifts. If traffic happens, upright protectors would help to reduce or even avoid damage to the system.
2) Row Spacer
Row spacer is used to connect two back-to-back racks. With row spacers, a parallel safety clearance between two uprights is fixed and the stability of the rack system is further strengthened. The number of row spacer depends on the height of the upright. Usually, row spacer is placed every 2.5 meters.
3) Pallet Support Bar
Pallet support bar provides extra support for pallets and reinforces the stability of the system at the same time. It is placed over pallet rack beams and can be either double-flanged or top hat style. Generally, each pallet position needs two pallet support bars.
4) Wire mesh deck
Wire mesh deck is another accessory put over pallet rack beams supporting pallets. Compared with support bar, its protection against pallets is greater. Besides, it improves fire safety for the holes help the overhead sprinkler system work better.
5) Beam connector
Beam connector is welded at the end of the beam. There are pins on the connector. With these pins, the beam connector can lock into the holes on the upright column so that beam is connected the upright. In addition, beam safety pins will be added into the holes in case of dropping.
6) Base plate
Base plate is either welded or bolted at the bottom of the upright column and bolted with the floor at the same time. It links the rack system with the floor so that the load capacity and stability are enhanced. The base plate is extremely important for rack systems in seismic zones.
7) Guide rail
Guide rail is mounted to the floor along racks. As its name implies, it guides the direction of forklifts in aisles. If the forklift deviates from the right direction, it will hit the rail rather than racks. Therefore, guide rail protects rack system from collision efficiently. And it is made of structural steel, so it is durable and corrosive.
8) Wall tie bar
Wall tie bar is used for uprights against the wall. It connects the upright with the wall so as to get additional stability and fixed safety clearance with wall. For each upright against wall, at least two wall tie bars are recommended.
9) Top portal tie
Top portal tie is necessary for single-row racks to intensify stability. It connects the single-row rack with an adjoining rack at the top of uprights, otherwise, single-row racks are prone to slope.
